Training

A regular series of conferences and seminars for parents and professionals is organised by Sutherland House Children's Services. Often this takes place in conjunction with other parts of NORSACA and outside agencies. Tailor made training events can also be organised either at NORSACA's own facilities (at Park Hall Autism Resource Centre) or at venues to suit the organisation requesting the training.

Areas that have been covered in external training have included: interactive approaches, early intervention, autism and implications for teaching and learning, promoting social and emotional well-being, behaviour support, the distinctive needs of children with Pathological Demand Avoidance syndrome and working with families.

Recently training has been provided for organisations including the Scottish Society for Autism; East Midlands Regional Partnership; Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Hertfordshire Local Authorities; Cambian Education; Thornhill Park School and the Foster Carers Association.

Sutherland House School is also an accredited training centre for MAPA (Managing Actual and Potential Aggression).
