Parent Programmes and Workshops

In conjunction with other specialist staff and services we are able to offer a variety of programmes and workshops to assist parents and carers in their understanding of autism.

The programmes help with:
 
  • Understanding a diagnosis of autism
  • Understanding how people with autism think and experience the world
  • Developing communication
  • Applying practical strategies to manage behaviour
  • Increasing parents’ skills, knowledge and confidence
  • Offering the knowledge that parents and carers are not alone
Courses that are run on a regular basis include:
 
  • Autism in the Primary Years
  • Growing Up with Autism
  • The Survivors Guide to Autism and Difficult Behaviour
  • Make It and Take It
Other courses and workshops are organised on a more ad hoc basis and have included:
 
  • Supporting Siblings
  • Sex and Relationships Education
  • Understanding Difficult Behaviour in Adolescence
