Adult & Further Education Services Overview

NORSACA Adult & Further Education Services provide services to people from sixteen upwards across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.

We are a leading provider of specialist educational and support services to people with a diagnosis of an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).  Many of our service users have additional needs such as learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.

Our development in 1987, entirely through voluntary effort, was a natural progression in NORSACA’s service provision.  Parents and friends of children with autism were concerned that once a young person reached school leaving age, their progress should continue and their on-going special needs be met.

We aim to educate and prepare our service users to cope with some of the stresses, spontaneity and choices of everyday life, by providing an ordinary and secure home life and creating stimulating day activities.  For some this may be attending classes at mainstream colleges with support provided by one of our Outreach Services teams, whilst other school leavers may commence with daily attendance at Whitegates College, which provides specialist educational provision for young adults aged 18-24.  Others receive high-quality day services from a variety of locations across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
